ARRIVAL INDUCTION INFO
Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us at our Te Puna Homestead. When you arrive you’ll have our place all to yourself. We have done all we can to ensure you have a wonderful experience. To gain access to our house please use the electronic lock. The code is 9555# hash. The lock is set to lock itself after 10 minutes, as long as the door is properly closed.
FLOOR PLAN
We have 5 bedrooms; the bed configurations are 4 bedrooms (including the guest suite outside) with king or super king beds and an inside bedroom with two twin king-singles.
FIRE
GAS. The gas fire runs off bottles, and also affects the showers and hobs, so please use it as a secondary heat source in favour of the fire in the lounge. To turn it on, on the dining room side, you’ll find a wee button on the left hand side of the vertical edge.
WOOD FIRE. You’ll find plenty of firewood in the cupboard beside the couch, please use this at will for both the fire and the fire-pit off the verandah.
The prevailing wind is a westerly, so if you’re using the firepit please close the house doors!
LIGHT
The lights on the verandah need to be turned on via the switch they’re plugged into.
THE SPA POOL
We’ve got the spa hot and ready for you, the chemicals we use are chlorine in case you have allergies. We have left towels out for you to use with the pool.
FUN AND GAMES
The TV is logged into our various accounts, please feel free to log us out and log into your accounts. There are games in the cupboard off the small lounge, and jigsaws up in the library. Enjoy!
The wifi is not particularly fast, but you’ll find it under Te Puna and the code is baalambs.
OUR PLACE IS YOURS
… almost. Obviously we have food and our personal belongings in the cupboards and ask for your respect with regards our things. There’s a high degree of trust in allowing you in our home, but we hope you’ll have a wonderful time, making timeless memories.
You might just want an iron and ironing board, you’ll find that in the laundry – and I’ve just purchased a steamer which you’ll find in the laundry also.
CLEAN UP
Our expectation is to clean up after you… within reason. Should you have moved furniture, please return it. Broken anything… tell us. Made a mess…. clean up. Accumulated recycling… take it. This is a relationship of trust, which we know isn’t misplaced. Assuming all is well your bond will be returned directly after our checks at the end of your stay.
TRAFFIC
The driveway is narrow, and traffic tends to increase over the weekend so please observe the 5km speed limit, and indicate to other vehicles you’re descending the drive via your horn if necessary.
WIFI
Our wifi is thanks to Starlink. Which means it might not be as fast as you’re used to but find GreenerPastures and the password you’re looking for then is baalambs.

If you find a young wee Jack Russell popping over from next door she is called Aeofa (Efa) and as she grew up in the house she’ll make herself at home if you love her even a little. The other affection demanding beast is a cat called Finnigan and a tiny pony called Poppy (who is currently dieting, so don’t be fooled). We aim to keep all animals well behaved, but please call if you have a problem.
ESSENTIAL CONDITIONS
To follow are the conditions which must be met as terms of this contract and given to your guests as appropriate;
1. All fees must be paid in full 1 month prior to the event, at risk of cancellation.
2. Access dates and times are noted on the invoice and use is permitted for domestic use only, with no smoking, vaping or drug use on the premises.
3. We supply cleaning as part of this agreement, however extreme cleaning such as breakages, excrement, carpet soiling or other extraordinary situations will incur additional charges. The homestead must be tidied at time of leaving, and should you have moved furniture it must be returned to it’s place.
4. Consumables supplied must be used appropriately for your stay, excessive use or removal of unused toilet paper, hand towels, hand soap or any cleaning supplies will be deducted from the bond.
5. The homestead is our home, so please restrict your use to main areas only and respect our privacy.
6. Insurance of any vehicles, equipment or property brought onto site are the responsibility of the hirer.
7. In the event of a natural event outside of our control, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone this event.
8. You are our agent for the use of the homestead during the times and dates specified any penalties Readlands incurs with regards any aspect of your use of the venue will be passed on to you.
